Sunrise

This week as I was driving to work, the most beautiful view of the sun appeared. It was a huge ball of red fire that was climbing into the sky moments after sunrise. It was so beautiful that I thought I should snap a quick picture of it. I didn't. I was distracted by the busyness of my life and laid the phone down without taking the shot. That afternoon driving home, I regretted my decision. Wishing that I had taken the time to pause for the briefest of seconds to take the picture, I texted my friends about the sunrise. I told them how I didn't stop and capture the moment. I let it pass me by without another thought until much later when I needed some inspiration. One of my friend's responded, Maybe tomorrow.
This sunrise moment reminded me of how many times we do this on a regular basis. God gives us something beautiful in nature to behold and we are distracted by life. We look the other way with a million things on our minds. I have often heard that one way God speaks to us is through nature. Flowers, trees, mountains, oceans, sunrises, and many other things including pecans. When we stop and take in what He is sharing with us, we receive a blessing. A pecan in reality. IF we take the time to stop. Take it. One day we will no longer be able to see sunrises. Our days are limited here on Earth. Soak up every moment that God gives you. Enjoy drives in the mountains, stomping in puddles on rainy days, long walks on the beach, hummingbirds sipping nectar from a flower, and sunrises. When you take the time to stop and still yourself listen to His soft voice as He whispers to you "Look at my creation! It is for you because I love you!" Now that's what I call a pecan!
