Put your game face on...

Today is Superbowl Sunday. Honestly, I'm one that never watches. I didn't even know who was playing in it until the preacher said so in church. It's just not my thing. I'd rather be reading a book. Today, I did stop and think about what it meant to put on your game face.
In my opinion, putting on your game face means to get ready for something that you are facing. I see it sort of like putting on the armor of God. We have to get through some tough things, so we put on our game faces in order to be able to survive these difficult things.
Yes, we all know we have difficult things. Some of us have more difficult battles we are fighting like cancer or other difficult diseases. Some of us have things that we think are big battles, but in the grand scheme of things they are minute. None the less, they are still battles, and they are important to us at the time. Jesus cares too! He cares about all of our battles. All we have to do is go to him and cry out that we are hurting.
Psalm 91 is so beautiful when you are hurting. This chapter talks about "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." Isn't that amazing to think about? If we live in the shelter of the Lord we will rest in his shadow! I get a visualization of a big brother standing beside the little brother or sister and the big brother's shadow is falling across the the smaller sibling protecting him.
Another part of this Psalm that I love says, (vs. 4-6) "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, not the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday." I love the part about God covering us with his feathers and we can hide out in the refuge of His wings. Think about how soft feathers are and how we love to just bury ourselves in something made of down. That's Jesus! We can nestle in under His wings when we have something difficult going on and His faithfulness will be our shield and rampart. That's a wall around us He builds for our protection!
All of these verses are amazing, but my favorite part that I take the most joy in is verses 11 and 12. "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone." Talk about blessed- Jesus tells His angels to protect us! The angels pick us up in their hands so that we won't so much as hit our foot on a pebble! Now that is true love. A real #pecanreport!
And yes, there are days when I need multiple angels looking out after me! I'm sure you have those times too. It might not feel like it, but we are actually in the palm of the angel's hand. Not only that, we are being given refuge under His wings covered with His feathers. All this is just because we love and have faith in Him.
So next time you're struggling with a battle no matter how big or small, put on your game face because Jesus has got us under His wings and in the palm of His angels!

Amen...The Lord God will always protect HIS Children and for this I and Grateful.
