Let me begin by saying that I never set out to become The Pecan Seeker. That is generally how my life unfolds. I never really set out to do anything important, or courageous, or lame for that matter. It just happens. Here in the South we address the sweet nut, pecan, as a pee-can, not a pu-khan. Why? I don't really know, and I'm sure I could find out, but saying "pee-can" is works for me.

One morning, I was on my way to work at 6:30 and using voice text to communicate with my BFFS. I said out loud my simple text, "Good morning ladies, I just wanted to say that I have pure joy in my heart. I am just so thankful for all of God's blessings. Hope you have a great day!" Voice text decided that was not what I said. Voice texts and southern accents don't mix! They go together like oil and water. This is what voice text decided that I had said:

That was not at all what I said. Where in the world did it come up with "his pecans" instead of "God's blessings?" The text struck me as hilarious and I knew my girls would think so too, so I hit send. Knowing that I would give them an early morning laugh made my day. Then reality hit me. Pecans would be a great way to think of God's blessings! Why not call His blessings pecans? I sent that out and instantly get the reply of "His pecans are everywhere." Then I get "Amen to that."

In that moment, I knew that I had stumbled upon something great. A serious pecan for that matter! Pecans would be a new way to see God's greatness in our lives. My BFF's and I now send each other "Pecan Report's" when we want each other to know about blessings that have been bestowed upon us. It's easy to see all the negative around us, but seeking His pecans is what really matters. Think about this the next time you have a blessing, no matter how small. It's really a pecan! Feel free to share your "pecan reports" in the comments section!
